A year in New York

Hello
Yesterday I came back from one year in New York city. It was very nice. New York city is so large. Therefore you must take the subway to go from one place to another
Do you know how many subways lines there are in New York city? The  are 24 subways lines more than the metro in Paris.

Do you know why the subway is very special ?
For 2 things :
When you go to a place, you must go out at one station and go to another one to go home.
There isn’t any station between beginning and the terminus. Therefore I lost myself many times…

I lived in the district Little Italy. Do you know why it is called like this ?
Because there are more italian shops in this district than in other districts.
I visited many monuments. The one I liked the most is Central Park. It is incredible to find a such big park in the middle of the skyscrapers. It is very quiet because there’s less people than in the streets.
Do you know how tall is it ? It’s 300 bigger than a football ground.

But the most impressive to me was the Empire State Building.
Do you know how tall is it ? It is 443 m tall, it’s the second highest building in New York city, it was built in 1931. The highest is the One world trade center, it is 546 m tall.

Do you know how often  the ferry runs and how long it takes to go there? it runs every 30 mns and takes 30 mns until Liberty Island.
The Statue of Liberty represents freedom from tyrany and oppression.
It is 95 m tall, four times smaller as the Empire States building.

I also went to  Ellis Island. Do you know how far is Ellis Island from Liberty Island ? It’s 800 meters fare away. So, I took also the ferry to go there.
Elis Island was a frontier for the migrants. All the ships coming from Europe had to stop there. The migrants went out and were located in Elis Island until they passed the test. If the test was OK, they were autorised to go to New York. If not, they had to return to Europe.
Do you know how old is Ellis Island? It is 127 years old.
It opened in 1892 and closed in 1954. During the 63 years, it welcomed approximately 12 millions people. Today it is a museum.
I loved New York  City so much !!!!
